Website Makeover: Ellen Monsees, Grief Counselor

Before & After gif of a Website Makeover

Where we started

Ellen’s existing DIY site solely focused on reaching a grieving audience. The colors were muted, the photos somber/neutral — and a lot of great copy (Ellen’s a fantastic writer).

Her issue: Ellen had grown beyond grief in her career and didn’t know how to tie it all in together. It was too hard to see herself and see the bigger picture. Could everything she was about now fit into one site?

From my point of view: Ellen’s site also looked a little dated, meaning it didn’t feel like the woman I had come to know personally. And while the site was a good business card, it wasn’t as functional as I would have wanted for her, like capturing emails for her list or letting people self-schedule initial consults.

What we did together

Site Clarity Audit - to better understand who Ellen is now + what her ideal site needs to accomplish

Ideal Customer Interviews - to understand how Ellen’s favorite clients thought about their problem, how they thought about the work they did together

Fresh Photos - Ellen scheduled her own photographer but we worked together to tie in colors and vibe so they’d be perfect for her new site

Messaging & Storytelling - We reimagined who Ellen was in language + visuals, tying together the big picture and real journey clients can go through now from Grief to Homegrown Joy

Site Build - a 6-day, 6-page site elegantly organizing ALL of her work + her new future of online courses, workshops, and a new book

Freebie Integration & Easy Email List - Free downloads link to automatic emails link to great customer service

Self-scheduling - so clients can book their own initial consult! Ellen maintains her personal calendar like usual and her availability is automatically updated

The (Never) Finished Product

Ellen will keep evolving and so will her site and work, but holy 🐮 this one feels good.
